ASAKURA PREMIUM BARREL-AGED SHOCHU 
Unprocessed barley shochu is aged in a virgin oak barrel for 2 years. The contents of the barrel are then removed. 

 

The shochu seasoned casks are then filled with new barley shochu which will rest in their wooden homes for 8 years.

 

Koji fermentation imparts a distinctively smooth taste and texture unique to Asakura Premium. 

 

Asakura’s taste is a hybrid of Shochu x Speyside – the epitome of East meets West.

ASAKURA BARREL-AGED SHOCHU LIQUEUR – BRANDY CASK FINISH
Barley shochu is aged in shochu seasoned oak for 6 years. The contents of a seasoned shochu barrel are transferred to an ex Brandy (Cognac) cask and aged for a further one year.

Koji fermentation imparts a distinctively smooth taste and texture unique to Asakura liqueurs.

The Cognac cask imparts a complex and mellow flavour which lingers on the palate. A beautiful union of French Oak and Japanese Shochu.

ASAKURA BARREL-AGED SHOCHU LIQUEUR – SHERRY CASK FINISH

Barley shochu is aged in shochu seasoned oak for 6 years. The contents of a seasoned shochu barrel are transferred to an ex Manzanilla and ex Oloroso casks and aged for a further one year. 

 

After one year has passed, the contents from the ex Manzanilla and ex Oloroso casks are blended and bottled.

 

Oloroso and Manzanilla barrels impart an intriguing aroma with a light, delicate finish. A rare concoction of casks and complexity, Asakura ex Sherry will satiate your curiosity
